personal | WE GOT ENGAGED!

We got engaged!

Yes, I’m so excited and happy about this, much more than I ever though I would be. As a little girl I dreamed of becoming a veterinarian or a writer and own a house in the mountains with a horse , 3 dogs and some cats. I never dreamed of getting married, I never pictured myself in a white dress so this is not a dream come true but I couldn’t be happier about it. I’m going to marry the sweetest, kindest, funniest, most wonderful man in the world in july! YaY!

Paul proposed to me in September right after he came back from a business trip to California, saying that he waited for a perfect day with beautiful weather but that while flying home he decided that he didn’t want to wait any longer. The next day he asked me in the forest near our home where we often go for walks with Noga. It was quit romantic ;-}. He gave me a beautiful vintage ring and we celebrated the rest of the day.                                                                                       One of the best things was telling my family and friends and experiencing their happiness in the weeks after the proposal. It still has me glowing inside when I think of it.  I kind of like preparing this wedding but I also feel that it’s quite some work and a lot of decisions to make, even though we’re keeping it small and simple. So far we have found the most beautifull old little church to do the ceremony and decided we’ll throw a small party in the yard of my parents afterwards. We already picked the rings (!) and my mother and aunt are going to make my dress. And one of the best things: we’re going to Japan on honeymoon! Yes! I almost can’t believe it, going to Japan has been a really big wish of mine and I can’t wait to go there. In the meanwhile I’m trying my best not to turn into bridezilla (just kidding). And I will keep you posted on the updates and probably share some wedding related posts on the blog this year. Tips and tricks from you brides and brides to be out there are more than welcome!

TRAVELLING | PARIS JE T’AIME

Paris je t'aime blogpost by Dancers Road

Paris is beautiful in any season at any time; autumn or spring, day or night. Paul and me spent the last three days of our autumn holiday in this ever magnificent city. My feet are still hurting from all the walking we did but the weather was too beautiful and the autumn shades were too  enchanting to spend too much time underground so we walked a lot. We visited the Centre Pompidou (interesting retrospective of Wilfredo Lam), Palais du Tokio, Montmartre, the Sacre Coeur, foundation Espace (nice exhibition about artificial climates), foundation Gartier (great exhibition with artists from Congo) and lots of cafes and restaurants. I’m afraid I gained a few pounds from all the good food I have been enjoying. I came back yesterday quite late and I must say; Paris I miss you already. I also miss Paul a lot because he had to stay in France for work :-[.

PERSONAL | Making friends with the trees and my new camera

making friends with the trees and my new camera - blogpost from Dancers Raod

Last week my camera broke. He and I were having some problems and irritations for a few months, amongst others because he kept telling me his lens was not attached even though I knew it was. So we were not so close lately and it was no surprise but but still it was a sad moment. Especially because I knew I had to spend some of my savings on a new one, since I use my camera almost every day.

P.  was so sweet to accompany me on my quest for a new one and we went for some serious camera investigation to the store and online. Finally I decided it was going to be the Nikon D5200 with a 18-270 mm Tamron lens. A slightly better camera than my old one with a way better lens. And boy do I love that lens! It is great, it is sharp, fast and it makes a cute little mechanical noise when it zooms. I just love it. So it did not take me very long to become friends with my new camera and forget about the old one (sorry Nikon D5000).

Yesterday morning me and Noga went for an early morning walk in the forest and I shot these wonderful pictures of my friends the trees with my new friend mister Nikon D5200. The trees are changing their summer wardrobes for their more warm and fiery autumn ones and that transformation is as beautiful as always. There even were a few mushrooms already. In a quiet forest the changing of the season is an unwavering certainty in an unstable world.

AUSTRIA

Austria by Dancers Road

Last week me and P. were in Munich. We came for work but also took a little off to visit my absolute favourite place in the whole world: Austria and to be more specific; The Wilder Kaiser Mountains in the Kitzbüheler Alps.  I spend a lot of time in this area as a child and this place has great value to me so it was great to be able to show it to Paul.  We only had an afternoon but the sun was shining, everything was green and growing and the mountains were magnificent as always.
