Growing baby plants

making cuttings Dancers Road

We moved! We found a perfect new home where we are living since last sunday. Everything is still in boxes, I can’t find a thing, it’s a total chaos but the plants are alright! I’ve moved a lot in the past few years and one of the first things I do in a new home is arrange the plants and make sure that they are in the right pot at the right place. It calms me down and it makes me feel right at home, even though everything else is not there yet. Because moving is not so much fun… It’s fun when it’s done but the moving itself I find quite stressing. A colleague said to me last week that when he really dislikes someone he always wishes that person to have to go true a moving. I thought that was a funny and at the same time a very dark thought. Anyway to calm myself down I decided to make some cuttings from my favourite plants. Because our new house is not much bigger than the old one but it has way more windowsills to fill with plants (yay!).

At the moment I’m growing a few different kinds of succulents, Pilea peperomioides (Chinese money plant), Cyperus alternifolius (umbrella plant) and a few Caladiums. Most of these are easy to make cuttings from, especially the moneyplant and the umbrella plant but the Caladium is a bit of an experiment for me so I’m curious how that will turn out!

DANCERS ROAD | WHAT’S NEW?!

new vintge items in the Dancers Road shop!

When it takes me a while to list items in the Dancers Road Etsy shop I know I did some great findings. Because if I don’t list the items fast it usually means I would rather keep them for myself then sell them ;-]. One of the reasons I started my shop was to be able to hunt for vintage treasuries, which is one of my greatest passions, without my house starting to look like a warehouse. So keeping things is not an option, unless I get rid of something else and things I got already attached to are an even bigger problem for me to sell…

This week I listed quite a few new items and I must say; there are some diamants, figuratively speaking ;-] among them. Today, while it was raining outside I took some time to arrange them and take some photos. I always love displaying them like this.

My new favourite is the old camel figurine and the handmade carved wooden Reuge Music Box, I couldn’t believe my eyes when I found that one and saw the brands sign. Reuge is an old brand from Swiss that makes music boxes since the beginning of the 19th century. I love their collection and this is a great piece.

You can already find most of these items in the shop and the rest will follow soon. If you would like to reserve something or make a pre-order feel free to send me a message!

INTERIOR | VINTAGE WORKSPACE INSPIRATION

VINTAGE WORKSPACE INSPIRATION | selection made by Dancers Road vintage blog and shop

Summer holiday is over for me and even though I’m not willing to fully embrace the upcoming fall yet I do have to admit that I like some of the aspects of being back to work. For instance sitting at my desk writing this post. I love my old vintage worn out desk with my plants and other little things on it, it’s one of my favourite places in our home. Being surrounded by beautiful things makes working a bit more fun, I think. While doing some  digital thrift shopping on Etsy last week I made this little selection of  vintage items that I would love to buy. Especially the old paper sheets and the desk lamp in the shape of a fish (I just have a soft spot for animal shaped lamps, I can’t help it). Not everything in this selection is vintage by the way; the magazine stand is from Alessi and the pillow is from Zara home, but I think they are gorgeous anyway.

You can find these items here: vintage notebook sheetshandcarved desk organiser, magazine holder, Leather book covers, fish horn table lamp, orange cushion, wooden inkwell, mid-century ceramic planter, 1950’s Scandinavion wooden desk.

Enjoy your workday everyone!

DANCERS ROAD | NEW SEASON COMING UP

Vintage South American Totem Wall Hanging from Dancers Road

My holiday ended last Sunday and even though I have that melancholic summer is almost over feel all over me I’m also looking forward to the new season and everything that is to come. On my travels I found many many beautiful vintage treasuries that will soon be listed in my Etsy shop. I made a little start photographing them last week and I can’t wait to make many more nice photos of all them. This summer I’ve also been taking some big steps into making young Dancers Road into a grown up business but I will tell you more of that later!

This beautiful 1970’s wall hanging is one of the new items I listed in the shop last week and it’s one of my personal favourites because of the bright and warm colours and the totem image.

Gorgeous Vintage pieces from Dancers Road Vintage availeble on Etsy

This week P. is out of town for work, which makes me sad because I really miss him. The only good thing about his absence is having the house for myself and being able to move around the furniture for as long as I like to create this photo shoot with lot’s of new found vintage items. Almost everything is listed in the shop now and I’m particularly happy with the new wall hangings because they are gorgeous, don’t you think?!

LATEST VINTAGE FINDINGS #2

Vintage from DancersRoad

When I go treasure hunting I never look for something in particular. Even though I’m always hoping to find west Germany vases, Mid Century planters, knitted pillows and wallhangings, every quest is again a surprise and that’s part of the fun. This homemade framed drawing of exotic birds I could have never imagined findingand it’s so much fun to find something unique like this. I love the bright colours on the old wallpaper. And it actually got me think of making one myself because it looks like a very nice project. Thats’s what I like so much about thriftshopping; I do not only come back with beautiful things from the past, I also get inspired to create things in the present.

The drawing will be availeble in the shop soon!
