FAUNA | ANIMAL OF THE MONTH NOVEMBER

One of my favourite blogs used to be Animalarium by Laura Ottina. This blog is fully dedicated to animal illustrations and featured with every blog post a different animal or a different animal theme. This wonderful blog still exists so you can still see all the beautiful and funny illustrations but unfortunately it’s not active anymore and no more posts are being made. Because I love and adore all animals (except maybe wasps and mosquitos) and because I miss the Animalarium posts I decided to make an ode to the Animalarium blog and to one georgeous animal every month.                                                                                                                                                    For this new series I proudly present to you the first Dancers Road animal of the month: the snake. A beautiful and mysterious animal that inspired so many artists from different times and places. This November you can expect a couple of posts where the snake plays a leading part, starting with this post with snake illustrations: enjoy!

TRAVELLING | PARIS JE T’AIME

Paris je t'aime blogpost by Dancers Road

Paris is beautiful in any season at any time; autumn or spring, day or night. Paul and me spent the last three days of our autumn holiday in this ever magnificent city. My feet are still hurting from all the walking we did but the weather was too beautiful and the autumn shades were too  enchanting to spend too much time underground so we walked a lot. We visited the Centre Pompidou (interesting retrospective of Wilfredo Lam), Palais du Tokio, Montmartre, the Sacre Coeur, foundation Espace (nice exhibition about artificial climates), foundation Gartier (great exhibition with artists from Congo) and lots of cafes and restaurants. I’m afraid I gained a few pounds from all the good food I have been enjoying. I came back yesterday quite late and I must say; Paris I miss you already. I also miss Paul a lot because he had to stay in France for work :-[.

FLORA | Plants & Flowers

contrabution from Dancers Road for Urban Jungle Bloggers theme Blooms'n'Green

What fun I had creating this Blogpost for this months Urban Jungle Bloggers theme ‘Plants & Flowers’! It gave me the perfect excuse to buy myself some pretty flowers and show of my collection of West Germany vases. And, let’s be honest; to rid the vases of dust because collecting those vases is one thing but keeping them dust free is another thing ;-]. It resulted in this very colourful photoshoot of my livingroom with my plants, the flowers and Noga sleeping in the corner. What do you think?!  I can’t wait to check out the other contributors!

Urban Jungle Bloggers is a Monthly series hosted by two bloggers: Igor from Happy Interior Blog and Judith from Joelix.com. Every month they come up with a  fun theme around ‘Urban Green’ in order to bring more green into homes and blogs. Every green loving blogger can join in. You can check the posts from other Urban Jungle bloggers here.

PERSONAL | Making friends with the trees and my new camera

making friends with the trees and my new camera - blogpost from Dancers Raod

Last week my camera broke. He and I were having some problems and irritations for a few months, amongst others because he kept telling me his lens was not attached even though I knew it was. So we were not so close lately and it was no surprise but but still it was a sad moment. Especially because I knew I had to spend some of my savings on a new one, since I use my camera almost every day.

P.  was so sweet to accompany me on my quest for a new one and we went for some serious camera investigation to the store and online. Finally I decided it was going to be the Nikon D5200 with a 18-270 mm Tamron lens. A slightly better camera than my old one with a way better lens. And boy do I love that lens! It is great, it is sharp, fast and it makes a cute little mechanical noise when it zooms. I just love it. So it did not take me very long to become friends with my new camera and forget about the old one (sorry Nikon D5000).

Yesterday morning me and Noga went for an early morning walk in the forest and I shot these wonderful pictures of my friends the trees with my new friend mister Nikon D5200. The trees are changing their summer wardrobes for their more warm and fiery autumn ones and that transformation is as beautiful as always. There even were a few mushrooms already. In a quiet forest the changing of the season is an unwavering certainty in an unstable world.

HAPPY AUTUMN FASHION | ALL Knitwear

All Knitwear Happy Autumn selection made by Dancers Road blog

Autumn becomes so much more happy with these hats and sweaters from ALL Knitwear! They are warm yet give me a little bright and light summer feeling. The best of both seasons, if you ask me. What you see here is just a little selection I made but there are so much more wonderful examples to find on the labels website that will put a smile on your face. I’m a big fan and one of these sweaters is definitely on my wish list for this season although I might have to save up a little first, before I can buy one. The white one in the middle of the first row is my favourite although picking favourites with these ones is not easy because I like them all and I could probably wear a different one every day of the week.

ALL Knitwear is a small knitwear label created by Annie Larson based in Brooklyn NY. And amazingly all these items are handmade by Larson herself in her studio. The label has a lovely website, that is definitely worth visiting, where you can read more on the story behind these slow-growing, idiosyncratic collection of handmade sweaters and hats. Enjoy!

HOME DECO | THE FOLK LOOK

shop the macedonian folk interior look selection made by DANCERS ROAD blog

Inspired by the Museum for Ethno culture and the photos from my last post I made this little ensemble of folk items to create a folk look at home and to take a little bit of my Macedonian holiday home. Some pieces are vintage, others are new and you can shop them online. The peacock feathers in a vase really inspired me, I remembered I use to have them in my room when I was a child and had almost forgotten about them. I always thought they were a little mysterious, coming from such magical birds. The blanket from Urban Outfitters is also one of my personal favourites because it instantly creates a warm and cosy look in a room.
