FILM | FLIPPED

One of my guilty pleasures during long summer holidays is closing the curtains to watch movies during the day even though it’s not raining outside. A couple of weeks ago I watched ‘Flipped’ from director Rob Reiner after the novel by Wendelin van Draanen. I’m a sucker for coming of age movies (even though I came of age a while ago ;} ) and this one goes directly on my list of favourites. Flipped is a very sweet movie about Bryce and Juli falling in love  while growing up in a neighbourhood in America during the late fifties. There are chickens, there’s a beautiful tree that needs to be protected, there are colourful family members from a grieving grandfather to a perfect housewife, there is (a little) drama, there is laughing and there are lots of vintage fifties outfits and decors to enjoy during this film. If only for the interiors and fifties costumes I would watch this movie again. If you haven’t yet you should see it because it will most likely leave you with a smile on your face (unless you’re the Grinch).
