As much as I like the over the top, fully bohemian, fully retro or fully ethnic interior I usually get even more inspired by an interior that has a mix of styles. I love it when rooms are not perfect, not tidy and filled with items that don’t match perfectly. And I love it when rooms look as if they are lived in (even thought these rooms are decors ;-]), with influences from different styles. That’s probably why I instantly fell in love with the eclectic interiors from the movie: Love is Strange.
It is a beautiful movie about Ben and George who get married at the beginning of the film, George is soon fired from his teaching post, forcing them to stay with friends separately while they sell their place and look for cheaper housing. It’s a beautiful, sad and yet funny movie and it also has great decors as you can see in these pictures! I love all the plans, books and personal objects in these interiors but above all; I love the artworks and paintings hanging around. They are so lovely and not impossible to find on flee markets and in thrift shops. I recently came across one very pretty flower painting like the one in the first picture below and it is so much fun to search for items like this! For those of you who rather shop online or don’t have the patience or the time to go thriftshopping I found some items in the style of Love is Strange on Etsy as you can see above.
The set decoration of Love is Strange was done by Kendall Anderson. Which movie interiors do you find inspiring?
